Book Club
Please join us at the February 18 meeting, hosted by Laura L. Her book is The Briar Club by Kate Quinn. A historical fiction novel set in a 1950s Washington, D.C. women’s boardinghouse, Briarwood House, where a group of diverse women form an unlikely friendship and a supper club after a murder occurs. Please contact Laura to confirm you will attend. We’ll meet at 6:30 pm. Find her address within the TNC directory.
Speak your mind, even if your voice shakes.
For more information send an email to bookclub@troynewcomers.com.
Culinary Group
The group plans to meet about every 4-6 weeks. Daytime, late morning or afternoons are best, with weekdays (Monday through Thursdays) preferred. We may have activities during the summer, which will allow us to pursue early evening events. If transportation is an issue, we can always hire an Uber. Topics are being investigated, although nothing is on the calendar. More details will be available as this group gets off the ground.
If interested, contact Monica D. at culinary@troynewcomers.com so you don’t miss any information.
Evening Euchre
Happy Valentine’s Day! We will be celebrating at the home of Joann T. The euchre party will be February 14 at 6:45pm. Joann will be having 5 tables, so hurry up and let her know you are coming. Thank you, Claudia S. for hosting our January party. We have one more month open this season for someone to host the March euchre in their home. Let Darlene G. know if you can host the month of March. Future dates: April 18th – Gina K., May – Marissa H.
We have a new rule starting in February, 2026. There has been some discussion on the dealer paying 25 cents when she/he is stuck with taking the bid and they get euchred. So whether you get stuck with the deal or you take the bid, if you get euchred, everyone now pays 25 cents. The coins that are collected are a fun way for more people to take a prize home.
We’re an intermediate group and welcome new people. If you’ve played Euchre before, consider joining us for a fun evening! Contact Darlene G. at eveningeuchre@troynewcomers.com for more information about this activity.
Ladies Bowling
Our league began on September 11 and we’re off to a great start and having fun. If you would like to be a substitute on the league, please contact Darcel C. We would love to have you join us!
For more information send an e-mail to ladiesbowling@troynewcomers.com

Meadow Brook Ushering
Our next performance is What the Constitution Means to Me! Written from her own life story, fifteen-year-old Heidi Schreck paid her college tuition by speaking in debate competitions across the country; now older, she tells the story of four generations of extraordinary women in her family whose lives were shaped by the Constitution. Heidi Schreck’s hilarious, hopeful and achingly human play breathes new life into our Constitution and imagines how it will shape the next generation of Americans. Our dates to usher run from Wednesday, February 25 to Sunday, March 1, 2026. Please arrive at the theatre 45 minutes prior to showtime and remain in the lobby for instructions. Remember, if you are unable to make your commitment, it is up to you to find a replacement from the sub list. This will be some great entertainment to help us through February in Michigan!
To learn more about an individual play, check the Meadowbrook Theater website – https://www.mbtheatre.com/20252026-season

Wine Tasting
There are no wine tastings scheduled for February or March. If anyone is interested in hosting a March wine tasting, please contact Ann B.
If you are interested in trying some new wines, enjoying good conversation and sampling a selection of appetizers and pot luck type dishes, consider attending a wine tasting evening. Each wine tasting evening is hosted by a Troy Newcomer member. Wine Tasting evenings are held once a month. The members attending may bring a spouse or friend, along with an appetizer, their wine glasses and $10 per wine drinker which will contribute to the cost of the wine. Those who do not drink wine are welcome to attend contributing an appetizer but are not asked to pay the $10. Everyone brings their own wine glass. The hostess chooses the wines she would like to serve. The hostess supplies the coffee and desserts. This is held once a month on a Friday or Saturday evening of the hostess’s choice beginning at 6:30pm.
For additional information, please contact Ann B. or e-mail winetasting@troynewcomers.com.
