St. David’s Episcopal Church’s food pantry located at 16200 West Twelve Mile in Southfield is the recipient of the Newcomers Club’s Thanksgiving holiday donation. St. David’s Food Pantry is an emergency food pantry created to assist Southeast Oakland County residents, serving 600 families a month. It is an outreach ministry of St. David’s and Lighthouse, Pontiac (building communities that end poverty). The Pantry is staffed by volunteers and exists solely through the generosity of community support. The food pantry is open from 9:00 AM – noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
If you would like to add to the Club’s donation, here are some ideas for non-perishable food and of course a monetary donation is always welcome.
Canned Goods – fruit, juices, vegetable, meats, stew, tuna, chicken, milk, etc.
Staples – dried pastas, pancake mix/syrup, Bisquick, flour, sugar, crackers, cereal, coffee, tea, cake mixes & icing, etc.
Personal Items – hair conditioner, disposable razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, feminine products, deodorant, dish soap, clothes soap, cleaners, etc.

We’ll be attending events and collecting tangible items and monetary donations the last 2 weeks of October for those activities scheduled at the end of the month and the first 2 weeks of November for bowling and those activities at the beginning of the month. If donating by check, please make checks out to “Troy Newcomers” with “Thanksgiving” on the memo line or mail to Troy Newcomers, PO Box 103, Troy, MI 48099, Attn: Michele B. by Nov. 15th. Donations are also available to be made by PayPal on our website, likewise due by Nov. 15th.
If you have any questions or will not be attending one of the events where collections will take place, please email either Kathy M. or Michele B. by Nov. 15 to make arrangements for a pickup.
Thank you and together we can spread some joy to needy families in Southeast Oakland County this Thanksgiving!
Rose Awards
Each month, September through May, White Rose Awards are given in appreciation to members serving on the board who have made an outstanding contribution to our club. In addition, Red Rose Awards are given in appreciation to members not serving on the board who have also made significant contributions to our club. Troy Newcomers Club is truly grateful for the time these women take out of their busy schedules and the extraordinary effort they put forth on behalf of our club. Please see the newsletter for more information about these wonderful women.
