Service/Volunteering

Volunteer Opportunities

We will be having two informational booths this summer to promote our club. The dates are listed below along with times. If you can help out by volunteering to take a shift, this would be very helpful! The one in July is during the Troy Garden Walk on the grounds of the Troy Historic Village, during the Arts & Crafts Boutique and the one in August will be at the Troy Farmer’s Market. The Troy Farmer’s Market is trying a different day and a later time to back up to the City of Troy’s free summer concerts near-by. Both of these are outdoors, but we will have a tent and chairs available. These are great opportunities for us to interact with the public and pass out our brochures to interested women.

Wednesday July 8, 8:30 AM – 6:30 PM, Troy Historic Village
60 W. Wattles Rd. The first and last shifts will include set up and packing up of
the booth. We need two people for every 2.5 hour shift:

Service Update
Thank you for your generosity for the spring service project – O.A.T.S. We collected $1,575 for O.A.T.S., the horse therapy program in Ortonville. We dropped off the check on the 26th and received a tour of the facility. We got to meet the horses and saw the other animals (cows, goats, donkeys and a very friendly pig) and found out our donation allowed us to adopt a horse of our choosing. We chose a cutie named Elf!

This is the final of our 3 service projects for the year. Michele & Eileen want to express our
sincere thanks for our very generous members who all make this job so worthwhile!!

Rose Awards

Each month, September through May, White Rose Awards are given in appreciation to members serving on the board who have made an outstanding contribution to our club. In addition, Red Rose Awards are given in appreciation to members not serving on the board who have also made significant contributions to our club. Troy Newcomers Club is truly grateful for the time these women take out of their busy schedules and the extraordinary effort they put forth on behalf of our club. Please see the newsletter for more information about these wonderful women.
