Charitable Giving

We were given a tour of the Penrickton Center for Blind Children on our trip to Taylor on March 14 to deliver our Easter/Spring Service Project donation. The activity rooms were full of apparatus to engage the children (1 to 12 years old) in their verbal, physical, musical, social, etc. development. We saw a young toddler enjoying the saucer and verbalizing! Their  bedrooms were as cute as could be with volunteers having painted each one a different childhood fantasy. We asked about the decorations as the children are blind but the Community Relations tour guide explained that the children’s siblings/parents/cousins/visitors are not blind and when the visitors get excited and describe the wonderful rooms to the children that then the children get excited too. There was also a themed stuffed animal on each bed so the children could “feel the paintings.” The staff was very thankful for our gift card donations (Kroger – $183, Meijer – $600, Joann Fabrics – $15, Michael’s – $150 for a total of $948) which will help purchase fresh food (served at every meal) and arts/crafts supplies. Many thanks to you ladies!

Rose Awards

Each month, September through May, White Rose Awards are given in appreciation to members serving on the board who have made an outstanding contribution to our club. In addition, Red Rose Awards are given in appreciation to members not serving on the board who have also made significant contributions to our club. Troy Newcomers Club is truly grateful for the time these women take out of their busy schedules and the extraordinary effort they put forth on behalf of our club. Please see the newsletter for more information about these wonderful women.
