The Troy Newcomers Book Club generally meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month for discussions about books we choose as a group.  For all meetings we gather about 7:00 pm and discussion starts at 7:15 pm.  In June we will meet at Pam C´s house on Wednesday, June 28th.  Please email or call Pam if you plan to attend. The book will be “Second hand” by Michael Zadoorian.

We take turns hosting and follow up our book discussions with great conversation over light snacks/dessert.  Please contact Corinna if you would like more information about the Book Club.

For more information send an email to

If you can’t make it but are interested in the Book Club e-mail Corinna to let her know.

  Ladies Bowling

Do you enjoy bowling? Do you like to get out and have some fun being active and socializing with other Troy Newcomers? Are your Tuesday mornings open? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then come join our bowling league in the Fall! You don’t have to be an experienced bowler to join. All levels are welcome. It’s a fun and social league. We bowl weekly on Tuesday mornings at Troy Lanes at 9:30am from September thru April. For more information or to join the league, please contact Susan H. If you would like to join us but can’t commit to every week, we always need subs for the league.  It’s friendly, fun, non-competitive (mostly), we get a little exercise and it’s a great way to socialize with the Club!! Call or email Carol S. or Susan H. if you’re interested, or send an e-mail to

Mah Jongg

Mah jongg is one of the few Newcomers activities that does not take the summer off! If you’ve been too busy to add one more date to your schedule, now is the time to find out if this ancient Chinese game is for you! Our first June play date is June 9 at 9:30 am at the home of Jane E. Please contact Jane if you plan to come or need directions. Our second June play date should be June 23 at 1 pm. Place will be announced. Either that or we will choose a different date.
While we don’t take the summer off, the dates may vary from our usual second and fourth Fridays.  The safest way to know exactly what’s going on with mah jongg is to get on Jane E’s email list. Don’t delay!

Please e-mail Jane at for more information.

Meadowbrook Ushering

We usher for 8 plays this upcoming season and are able to see professional plays for just an extra hour of our time.  If you would like to usher next season starting in September, email or call Laura C.  We usher for the 3rd week of the play (not necessarily the 3rd week of the month). Ushers should report at least 50 minutes before their performance. The performances are on Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Thursdays at 8:00 p.m., Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 6:00 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. There is also an option to usher with your spouse if there is room.

If you would like to substitute and try ushering for our last play of the season, please email Laura C. She will let you know which performances need subs. Laura will be out of town, so will respond on June 6.

Please let Laura C. know if you would like to be put on the sub list or send an e-mail to

 Scrapbook Club

We will be taking a break from cropping during the months of June /July. Look in the August edition of our newsletter for info about upcoming events for the new club year. And remember to capture your vacation and holiday memories on film to have your photos ready to scrapbook this fall. It is always fun to meet up again and talk about what we all did over our summer vacations!

Our activity is open to any Newcomers member and consists of all ability levels.  We are always happy to help brand new scrappers get started in this fun craft.  Anyone is welcome to just come and observe to see what it is all about.

If you are interested in participating or have questions, please call Denise or e-mail
