Book Club

Please join us at the May 21 meeting, hosted JoAnn B. Her book is Worthy by Jami Kern Lima. If you’ve been underestimating your talent and gifts, WORTHY is for you. If you’ve learned to please others so much that you end up betraying yourself, WORTHY is for you. Learn how to believe you are enough and transform your life: simple steps, life-changing results. Please contact JoAnn to confirm you will attend. We’ll meet at 6:30 pm. Find her address within the TNC directory.

You are your best thing.

For more information send an email to bookclub@troynewcomers.com.

Evening/Couples Euchre

Our last euchre party of the season is at the home of Marissa H. We need some euchre players to sign up for a fun night! It is Saturday, May 24, and the party will start at 6:45. Let Marissa know you are coming.

We ask that you bring any alcohol you would like to drink and a dish to share with the group. We will start at 6:45pm and take time to socialize and eat our food. Then it is time to play euchre. We always play on a Saturday night and in the comfort of someone’s home. We ask that you email the hostess and let her know if you are coming and if you will bring an appetizer or a dessert. Oh, one more thing- it will cost you $5.00 to play, and we do play for prizes.

We’re an intermediate group and welcome new people. If you’ve played Euchre before, consider joining us for a fun evening! Contact Darlene G. at clubactivities@troynewcomers.com for more information about this activity.

  Ladies Bowling

Sadly our bowling season has ended.  Soon we will be planning for the next season which will start in September.  We bowl at Troy Escape Bowling Alley on Square Lake Road, just west of John R.  We bowl every Thursday morning from 9:15 to about 11:45.  If you’re interested in joining us this fall either full time or as a sub, please contact Lynn S.

For more information send an e-mail to ladiesbowling@troynewcomers.com

Ladies Daytime Euchre

If you are not a regular hostess, please let Martha know if you wish to bring a breakfast item for that day.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR HOSTESSES THIS SEASON: BARB P., SUE J., MARYANN L., MARY ANN D., GINA K., DEBBIE R., KATHY H., DIANA A. AND MARTHA B.!!! If anyone wants to host for September, or any other month next season, let me know.

Ladies Game Night (Girls’ Night Out)

Diana A. will host Ladies’ Game Night this month on Wednesday, May 21 at 7:00. Please let Diana know if you are able to attend.

Ladies Pickleball

The Newcomer Picklers are having a great time so we will continue with a 3rd Session of Pickleball. The session will run for 6 weeks – May 7 – June 11, from 1:00-3:00 at the First United Methodist Church of Troy, 6363 Livernois Rd. Please email Michele B. by May 4th if you are interested in joining us. You don’t need to know how to play, we’ll teach you! Also, paddles are available to use if you don’t own one. Cost will depend on how many members sign up. So far, enough members are interested that the cost in previous sessions has been $30 or less. Michele will let you know the cost prior to May 7th. Please bring a check for the designated amount to the May 7th session, made out to Troy Newcomers Club.

If you have any questions, please contact Michele B at service@troynewcomers.com.

Mah Jongg

So, the new cards really are here now! And this year there are some difficult hands. Maybe as we become more familiar with them the card will be easier to navigate.  The play dates in this month are May 9th at 9:30 am and May 30th (note change to Friday to avoid Memorial Day weekend) at 1 pm. We will be at Jane E.’s house for both dates. Make sure you’re on Jane’s email list for reminders and updates.

Please let Jane know if you plan to attend or need directions to her house.

Please e-mail Jane at mahjongg@troynewcomers.com for more information about mah jongg.

Meadow Brook Ushering

Frank, Dean, and Sammy are up in heaven, but God tells them they left some unfinished business back on Earth. It seems Frank made an unfulfilled promise to Vic, the owner of the Rat Pack Lounge. Now he and the boys have one night to make things right. With hits like “My Way,” “What Kind of Fool Am I?” and “Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime,” this show will leave you singing and savoring the days of highballs and high rollers. It will be nice to hear these classics again!

Ushers for the Lounge will be on duty May 7th through the 15th. Welcome all the ticket holders into this musical and magic play.  There is only one show remaining in this season.  We hope to welcome all of you back for the 2025-26 playgoer’s season.

If you would like information regarding ushering at Meadow Brook in the future or have questions, please call Marie H. or email meadowbrook@troynewcomers.com.

Scrapbooking

There is a group making plans to attend the Mega Meet Scrapbooking convention in Novi on May 8 or 9. If you would like to join the group please contact Denise M.

If you are interested in participating or have questions, please call Debbie R. or e-mail clubactivities@troynewcomers.com

Wine Tasting

We do not have a wine tasting scheduled in May. Information regarding the June wine tasting will be found in the June/July newsletter. Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day and Happy Memorial Day.

Each wine tasting evening is hosted by a Troy Newcomer member. The members attending may bring a spouse or friend, along with an appetizer, their wine glasses and $10 per wine drinker which will contribute to the cost of the wine. Those who do not drink wine are welcome to attend contributing an appetizer but are not asked to pay the $10. The hostess chooses the wines she would like to serve. The hostess supplies the coffee and desserts. The wine tasting is held once a month on a Friday or Saturday evening of the hostess’s choice beginning at 6:30 pm. If you would like to attend a wine tasting evening and do not drink wine, feel free to bring your own beverage.

For additional information, please contact Ann B. or e-mail winetasting@troynewcomers.com.

If you would like more information or have ideas on additional activities for the Club, please send an email to clubactivities@troynewcomers.com.
