Thanksgiving Service Project

Food plays a huge part in our Thanksgiving celebration, so we decided to support a food pantry, the Open Hands Food Pantry and Garden in Royal Oak – https://openhandspantry.org/.  They are located at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Royal Oak on the corner of Woodward and 11 Mile. Their mission statement: Open Hands is a community-based non-profit pantry and garden that provides assistance to and elevates the dignity of our neighbors. We have an update on things currently needed by the pantry. Cash is always welcome, but in addition to cash they gave us a short list of items needed – Toothpaste, Soups and Cereal.  Michele B. or Eileen W. will be attending some of the club events in October to collect donations. Check donations should be made out to “Troy Newcomers Club” with Thanksgiving Service Project in the memo field and mailed to P.O. Box 103, Troy, MI 48009 or given to Michele or Eileen. Or contact Michele or Eileen and we’ll make arrangements for a pickup/drop-off.

You can also donate through PayPal using the Donate button below.

Please have all donations submitted to be received by Thursday, November 7th! Thanks for helping to make this Thanksgiving service project a success!

Christmas Service Project

We received an update on our Christmas project, Operation Blue Sleigh, from Troy Officer Greg Pokley. He is awaiting family referrals and we should receive our family and lists before Black Friday. Updates to come later as details are available.

Rose Awards

Each month, September through May, White Rose Awards are given in appreciation to members serving on the board who have made an outstanding contribution to our club. In addition, Red Rose Awards are given in appreciation to members not serving on the board who have also made significant contributions to our club. Troy Newcomers Club is truly grateful for the time these women take out of their busy schedules and the extraordinary effort they put forth on behalf of our club. Please see the newsletter for more information about these wonderful women.
